Babelomurex hirasei (Shikama, 1964)
Description
White, pale brown, or pale pink. Resembles B. deburghiae, but grows up
more greatly, spines on the shoulder wide and expands diagonally, and spire
low. Spiral ribs thinner than that of B. cariniferoides, but fatter
than B. deburghiae.
Locality
Japan: Tosa Bay, Bungo strait in 150m-210m.
East China sea, South China Sea.
Philippines: Bohol Island, Negros Island in 80m-150m.

Remarks
Scientific name and Japanese name are connected to business person Yoichiro
Hirase in Kyoto Japan. Dr. Shikama showed this shell in "Selected shells
of the world illustrated in colours 1963" by the name of L. latipinnatus.
However, he changed it's name to B. hirasei in "Selected shells of
the world illustrated in colours II 1964". Dr. Shikama said that the
L. deburghiae shown in "Kairui Zasshi (The Conchological Magazine)
vol.1, pl.8, fig.67, 1907" is B. hirasei too.
