Siratus pliciferoides (Kuroda, 1942)
Description
Grayish white, sometimes with some pale brown strips. Spire rather tall,
with varices at every 120 degrees. Spines on the shoulder strong.
Locality
Japan: Off Boso Peninsula in 60m-80m, Mouth of Tokyo Bay, Sagami Bay
in 60m, Shikoku, Kyushu, East China Sea.
Taiwan.
China.
West pacific sea.

Original of Japanese name
Mokuhachifu (Michisada)
Remarks
Mokuhachifu used the Japanese name of Hakkigai (=Eight demon shell)
for this shell, and this book was written that the origin of the
Japanese name was Michisada. It is uncertain whether the Michisada
is a book name or a person name. Two or more individuals are often
collected at a time. Therefore, it is presumed that S. pliciferoides
lives within the narrow range in bottom of the sea.
